What determines specialty quality coffee?

Plant pedigree, microclimate, altitude and cultivation methods all contribute to the quality of our specialty coffees. Arabica species is known for producing the world’s finest coffees. But beans are available in a range of flavors and qualities. The best beans are what we’re after at Bayfield. We serve only beans from the top 2% of all beans available worldwide. You may think bean quality is a novelty, but once you taste our coffee, you’ll understand why we choose only the best.

Should I buy ground coffee or coffee beans?

If you are looking to have the best possible cup of your favorite Bayfield County Coffee, it is best to grind only the amount of beans you will immediately use, and to grind them just before you brew them. Once you change the beans’ cellular structure by grinding them, the process of oxidation begins, and the flavorful oils in the beans loose their punch.

If convenience is your goal, ground is the way to go. Our vacuum sealed bags maximize freshness, so you can be confident your beans are flavorful. After you open the bag, store it in a clean, dry, dark place to retard the oxidation process that robs beans of their flavor. The longer you store or freeze beans, the more their flavor is impacted, so be sure to store them in an airtight container.
